Remote dbProfessional Client FAQ

What are the requirements for Remote dbProfessional Client? 
Remote dbProfessional Client requires the following:
    - Pentium 200 IBM PC or compatible.
    -
32 MB of application RAM (64 MB recommended).
    - 20+ MB hard disk space.
    - VGA color monitor or better with 256 colors or higher and a minimum resolution of 800x600.

    - Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, or Windows 2000.
    -
Microsoft Winsock 2.0 or higher.
   
- For Windows 95 users: DCOM95 which is available for download at
      http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom.asp.
    -
Connection to the Internet for (Remote TCP/IP connections).

What are the DB modules supported by Remote dbProfessional Client? 
Remote dbProfessional was designed to support multiple DB platforms.
Client version 2.0.1.14 supports the  Pervasive SQL DB Module and the xBase DB Module.


 

Remote dbProfessional Server FAQ

What are the requirements for Remote dbProfessional Server? 
Remote dbProfessional Server requires the following:
    - Pentium 200 IBM PC or compatible.
    -
32 MB of application RAM (64 MB recommended).
    - 5+ MB hard disk space.
    - VGA color monitor or better with 256 colors or higher.

    - Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, or Windows 2000.
    -
Microsoft Winsock 2.0 or higher.
   
- For Windows 95 users: DCOM95 which is available for download at

What are the DB modules supported by Remote dbProfessional Server? 
Remote dbProfessional was designed to support multiple DB platforms.
Server version 2.0.1.14 supports the  Pervasive SQL DB Module and the xBase DB Module.


 

Pervasive SQL DB Module FAQ

What are the requirements for Pervasive SQL DB Module? 
Pervasive SQL DB Module requires the following:
    - Pentium 200 IBM PC or compatible.
    -
32 MB of application RAM (64 MB recommended).
    - 5+ MB hard disk space.
    - VGA color monitor or better with 256 colors or higher.

    - Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, or Windows 2000.
    - Microsoft Winsock 2.0 or higher.
   
- For Windows 95 users: DCOM95 which is available for download at
      http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom.asp.
    - Microsoft ADO/OLE-DB runtime. ADO is installed with Microsoft Windows 2000.
      For other versions, ADO must be installed separately using Microsoft Data Access Components
      (MDAC), available from Microsoft. Can be downloaded at
      http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm.

Connection to the Internet for (Remote TCP/IP connections).
    - Pervasive SQL 2000 Engine.
    -
Remote dbProfessional Server.

What type of P.SQL/Btrieve tables are supported by Pervasive SQL DB Module? 
Pervasive SQL DB Module supports any P.SQL/Btrieve tables that are supported by the Pervasive SQL 2000 Engine. Pervasive SQL DB Module requires the Pervasive SQL 2000 Engine to be installed on the same machine that the Remote dbProfessional Server and Pervasive SQL DB Module are installed.

What are the limitations of P.SQL DB Module?
    - Backup/Restore/Download/Upload are supported for Btrieve files with size less than 2 GB.
    - When opening tables that contain BLOB fields there is a delay of 30-60 seconds. This is regarding fetching these BLOB fields. However browsing  these tables is normal.


 

xBase DB Module FAQ

What are the requirements for xBase DB Module? 
xBase DB Module requires the following:
    - Pentium 200 IBM PC or compatible.
    -
32 MB of application RAM (64 MB recommended).
    - 5+ MB hard disk space.
    - VGA color monitor or better with 256 colors or higher.

    - Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, or Windows 2000.
    - Microsoft Winsock 2.0 or higher.
   
- For Windows 95 users: DCOM95 which is available for download at
      http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom.asp.
    - Microsoft ADO/OLE-DB runtime. ADO is installed with Microsoft Windows 2000.

What type of xBase tables are supported by xBase DB Module?
xBase DB Module supports dBase, FoxPro and Paradox tables.

What are the limitations of xBase DB Module?
    - Backup/Restore/Download/Upload are not supported.
